
Melissa Crystal O'Neil was born July 12, 1988[1].] She is a Canadian singer and actress. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to win Canadian Idol's third season, which aired in 2005. O'Neil is primarily known as an actress for her performances on Syfy as Two or Rebeccaand Portia Lin, and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama The Rookie. She was placed in the bottom three and two contestants were eliminated. The judges were stunned by this and encouraged viewers to vote for Melissa for her vocal talents. O'Neil was recognized for her efforts and she didn't drop to the third place. Zack Werner declared that O'Neil was "a threat" to win the whole thing. O'Neil, along with Rex Goudie, reached the finals on September 7 in 2005. Werner, a judge famously stated that the headlines of the following day's papers would be "The King [Kalan Porter] has passed away. The Queen will live forever." O'Neil defeated Goudie at the grand finale results ceremony on September 14, 2005. She was also crowned the third Canadian Idol and the first female winner.
